Schiava on Phyllite

The Schiava grapes of the PHYLLIT (Liquid-Stone-line) grow in an old, terraced vineyard in Plars di Sopra near Lagundo, in the northwest of South Tyrol, directly at the entrance to the Vinschgau. It is the line's highest situated vineyard (650 m.a.s.l.) with the oldest vines (60-70 years). Deep-rooted vines grow here on light slate-gneiss soils, producing small-berried Schiava grapes without irrigation or fertilisation. Due to the altitude of the vineyard, PHYLLIT shows us the elegant and cool appearance of Schiava.

The mash ferments in wooden vats, followed by barrel ageing for 9 months. The PHYLLIT convinces with its elegance, the low alcohol content (11.5% vol.) and the nonetheless amazingly well-structured and long finish. Furthermore, the distinctive high acidity gives tension and freshness.

PHYLLIT in 3 words: straight, essential, refreshing!
