Mitterberg Red IGT

Our DONÀ ROUGE originated from the idea to create something truly special with the local Schiava grapes, rediscovering and reinterpreting the potential, partly forgotten and undervalued, of this old vine.

We started off from a sunny, airy vineyard at 450 m altitude, with a medium consistency soil of glacial origin hosting 40 to 50 year old knotty vines with deep roots. Vines that, looked after with dedication and great respect for nature, produce bunches of small, flavor-rich grapes in limited quantity.

A gentle and careful processing in the cellar and the addition of 2% Lagrein and 3% Pinot Noir complete our idea of DONÀ ROUGE.

The 23-month refining in wooden barrels and the 2-years bottle ageing make it a character red, spicy and soft, very harmonious.
